Soft tissue management

Course Description

2-Day Focused Course

This 2-day course is dedicated entirely to soft tissue management in endodontic microsurgery.

For many years, apical healing was considered the primary endpoint of microsurgical treatment, while soft tissue healing and esthetic outcomes received comparatively limited attention. Common complications such as gingival recession and scar tissue formation will be thoroughly addressed, with an in-depth analysis of the biological and mechanical mechanisms underlying their development.

Participants will receive evidence-based guidelines on how to prevent these complications through:

  • Proper case assessment
  • Minimally invasive flap designs
  • Optimal incision placement and atraumatic tissue handling

Special emphasis will be placed on achieving predictable primary closure, including appropriate suture material selection, a clear understanding of suture biomechanics, and the application of precise microsuturing techniques.

By the End of This Course, Participants Will Be Able To:

  • Select the most suitable flap design for each clinical situation
  • Manage soft tissues effectively throughout all stages of the surgical procedure
  • Choose the appropriate suture type and achieve tension-free primary closure

Hands-On Training Includes

  • Traditional flap designs on 3D models
  • Minimally invasive flap designs on 3D models
  • Microsuturing exercises using 7.0, 8.0, and 9.0 sutures on 3D models and specially designed training apparatus
